Predestination
My favorite movies are confusing and complex that have you guessing and debating the film with your friends until the ending where everything makes sense. Most recently my friends and I watched a science fiction film by the Spierig brothers'"Predestination" starring Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook, and Noah Taylor. A time-traveling agent goes on a challenging assignment to stop a terrorist attack in New York City in the movie. With a stunning twist ending, the film offers a thoughtful and detailed investigation of time travel, identity, and fate.
"Predestination" examination of the nature of time travel is one of its most interesting elements. The film skillfully addresses the contradictions and errors that result from time travel, including the grandfather paradox and the butterfly effect. In addition, the film explores the idea of predestination and how the past, present, and future are all connected. Although hard to follow at first because of its unnormal timeline going between scenes shot in the past, present, and future it became clear as you watched.
The movie's production design, which creates a unique environment that is both future and retro, is another notable component. The movie's utilization of vintage equipment and clothing evokes nostalgia while still feeling futuristic.
I highly recommend watching this movie. It has one of the best endings I've seen in a long time because, after a whole film of you guessing what's going to happen next or how characters are related to one another, it all comes together in the last few minutes.
