GET OUT

In 2017, Jordan Peele released the horror film "Get Out." The movie was a box office hit as well as receiving lots of positive reviews from critics. The film explores racial and identity-related issues that take place in America in a frightening, horror movie style.

The plot of the movie centers around Chris Washington (played by Daniel Kaluuya), a black man who is visiting his white girlfriend Rose Armitage's (played by Allison Williams) family for the first time. Chris soon discovers that there is something terrible happening in the Armitage home, and he finds himself trapped in a terrifying position where he is forced to face his worst fears.

The pacing of this film along with the tension-building of the film where really well done under Jordan Peele's direction. The film's photography and sound design also contributed to the overall mood of discomfort, and the use of quietness in some scenes really helped added to the feeling of discomfort.

The one thing about this movie that really stuck out to me was how filmmaker Jordan Peele was able to create a fantastic horror movie while also including themes of racial injustice in modern America. I think that one of the things Jordan Pele will be remembered for throughout his career as a film director is how he can blend terror and racial injustices and portray the two through film.
